Strategic Defense
From A Former Prosecutor

Drug Crimes

Depending on the amount of drugs and other factors such as guns, you could be facing a multi-year prison sentence. The difference between a simple possession charge and a Possession for Sales charge is surprisingly small. Regardless of the charge, you want a lawyer who understands how the government prosecutes drug charges.

I am Clinton Parish a former prosecutor. Today, I use this experience to represent individuals charged with drug crimes and need a Criminal Defense Attorney. I understand how the government vehemently prosecutes drug crimes often using confidential informants, wiretaps and covert surveillance. As a defendant, you need someone who will vigorously defend you to protect your rights. I have tried cases involving drugs and controlled substances such as cocaine, heroin, PCP, marijuana, methamphetamine and ecstasy as well as prescription drugs such as OxyContin, oxycodone and Vicodin. I am also familiar with medical marijuana crimes and am up to date on the most recent case law.

For years, I prosecuted nothing but drug crimes, possession for sale as well as personal use. I know how a prosecutor thinks. I know where prosecutors look for shortcuts. I know where to attack their cases. I will use that expertise to defend you against drug charges that often carry heavy penalties.

Did the police have lawful justification to search you? Illegal search and seizure is often an issue in drug cases. The police must have a reason to search you, your home, your vehicle, or any place the law says you have a reasonable expectation of privacy. In many drug cases, the police may not follow proper procedure and therefore may lack probable cause. I have reviewed hundreds of search warrants and will investigate and challenge the procedures used during your arrest and any searches to determine whether the police violated your constitutional rights.

Treatment options vary greatly from case to case. It is extremely important to have an attorney who knows diversion options and favorable probation options for narcotics cases. Some programs include community service, drug or alcohol treatment or even case deferment. After a conviction or plea, a good attorney may be able to convince the Judge to put a client into programs that allow for a dismissal of charges with successful completion of probation.

Whether you were arrested in Sonora or Jackson, in Amador, Calaveras or Tuolumne, I can represent you in court. I work mainly in the Gold Country.
